Well, things have been shaken up for us a bit, and I’m staying with my sister, brother in law, and their two children along with all four of my little kiddos. Nine of us under one roof! That’s a lot of cooking to be done! Luckily my brother in law is a pretty good cook and he’s been teaching me a few things. Last night was pork chop night and he had to work late, so it was up to me to do it all by myself. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wondered what the fire department was like in this area. Continue reading
Cooking With Midge: Country Fried Steak? Well, I tried
I got a little adventurous the other night for dinner. My husband was out running errands and wouldn’t be back till after five pm. Yay, creativity in the kitchen! Well, sort of. I grabbed the cook book and flipped through and found Country Fried Steak. Hm. I’d never tried to fry anything other than eggs before, this should be fun! Continue reading
Cooking With Midge: Blue cookies?
I decided to make something different for dessert last night. Something I’d never made before and something the kids had never seen. I searched the internet and found this recipe for blue cookies. Cooking with Midge: Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast (I totally cheated)
Today is Father’s Day. I wanted to surprise my husband, the father of our four beautiful babies, with cooking breakfast. We’re broke so I had to stick to what we had left in the pantry. I found pancake mix! Yay, breakfast. Of course, when I’m in the kitchen when he’s home, he has to come in and make sure things are safe. Continue reading
Cooking With Midge: Overnight Crock Pot Apple and Cinnamon Oatmeal
My husband has to get up at 5am twice a week. When I was working and had to get up at 4am, my husband would get up with me, make me breakfast and coffee so that I didn’t have to spend the time to make myself breakfast and could sleep that much longer. I loved that. Despite being challenged in the culinary skills department, I wanted to return the favor. Continue reading
Cooking With Midge: Chocolate Cake With Peanut Butter Frosting
I have a very brave family. They are letting me in the kitchen *snicker* now that my husband is not able to cook dinner every night, I’m going to have to learn. He had been the cook for our family for years. My older two kids even joke at school when they have a fire drill “Who let Mom cook in the school kitchen?” Continue reading
